Alleluia! The Lord is risen. W00t!

Rita reminded me that now would be a good time to repost last year's Easter photo. Isaac rules over his rabbit army with an iron fist.

He loves watching the videos of himself that I just posted; he smiles and laughs and smacks the laptop screen. I tried showing him some of his older ones, but he wasn't interested. He just wants to see the big guy crawl or throw food. Hello, YouTube generation.

I went to the Easter Vigil last night. I love that service so much, huddling in the dark with candles through the story of salvation, until the moment of the resurrection. It's beautiful and solemn and yet, because it's an annual service that doesn't follow the usual pattern, it's always a bit ragged around the edges. Something will go wrong. Maybe there's no reading light for the lectors or the wrong psalm is started or something is off in the bulletin and everyone flails for a second. The human factor is always there, and I love it for that. Easter morning can feel a bit theatrical, but the vigil is real and slightly messy.

Leigh, Ryan and Nathan joined me and Ike for a farmer's market walk on Saturday. Isaac liked his first taste of real strawberry at the market, but has been less enthusiastic about them since then. Oh well, more ridiculously expensive organic hand-polished strawberries for mama. The farmer's market is such a good toddler outing; lots to look at, plenty of things to sample, dogs to smile at, and the stroller provides cargo space for giant bags of kettle korn. Awesome.
