habitat

I'm finding that it helps to just think of my body as a Habitat for Humanity construction site. Apparently the baby is renovating my lower ribs this week.

The big thing going on here is that St. Ned's is apparently pretty close to announcing who NextRev is. We've been rector-less since January when TheRev left, so it's very cool that we're about to get a new one.

I'm hoping it will help shake me out of the giant case of the Fuckits I've had lately. Which, granted, is probably more about my physical, uh, challenges and getting ready to move and the fact that my life is going to look just a wee bit different come December than about my job. But, still, change is interesting at least, and I have some new video projects to work on, so that's fun.

Two of my friends were ordained at St. Ned's last month, and I served (badly, as it turns out, but that's another matter) as the bishop's assistant at their request. Vestments on a pregnant chick on the hottest day in June equals No Fun, but I did not pass out. It was kind of a weird day for me, in that I kept checking in with myself to see if being at other people's ordination bothered me at all. I guess I was looking for that feeling of being a bridesmaid when you've just gotten dumped by your boyfriend, but I didn't find it. I am, at least at this moment, free of the urge to pursue ordination.

I don't know if this a permanent case of God letting me off the hook, or if he's going to get back to me at some point in the future, but for now, it's off my plate. I'm all too aware that the last time I was a recently-dumped bridesmaid was at Ryan's wedding, during a bad patch in the Sara and Dennis Show, and now...well...I guess that all worked out in the end. So it's probably best to be open and not think I have any clue how things are going to turn out.
